We just implemented “the five minute rule” five minutes of letting him try to self soothe, then 5 minutes of use helping his self soothe without picking him up in his crib. This would look like rubbing his head, putting our hands on his chest, shushing, then if we calms down we walk out of the room and give him 5 more minutes to try self soothe again. If he didn’t calm down then we pick him up and hold him up to five minutes to soothe him then start the entire process again! We’ve been doing this a week and he went from waking up every few hours to sleeping through the night! We also have him a small stuffed monkey he sucks on and hugs which helps soothe him.
