I just wanted to share that breastfeeding was really hard with both of my babies for the first month or so. Both of them were small and had trouble latching correctly. There were lots of tears (both of us), blisters, scabs, and searing pain at times. I was lucky to be able to consult with a lactation consultant, a craniosacral therapist, and eventually an ENT to deal with tongue tie (for my second child). While I know all of these therapies were helpful, part of the process was just the growth of my child (as well as myself). Eventually the scabs healed, the tears dried up, and we were able to go on to experience a long breastfeeding relationship. So, for anyone out there who is struggling in the first few weeks, please know that, in many situations, it does get better!
