In the hospital, we were given a worksheet for tracking feedings and the number and content of diaper changes. That worked well for the first couple of days of being in the hospital. When the three of us made it home, we found it hard to keep track of the worksheet while adjusting to our new life at home. We decided to look for an app in which we could track feeds and diaper changes that would allow lo multiple caregivers to contribute. I downloaded and tested several apps. We settled on Baby Daybook. The app allows multiple caregivers to enter information. You can time feeding in the moment or log past events. The app also lets us track pumping, tummy time, and baths (or any custom events). Ultimately, I recommend figuring out what what your family needs out of a tracking approach and finding analog or digital method that fits your needs. The aggregate information can be helpful in having accurate conversations with your pediatrician during the newborn phase , especially when sleep deprivation makes it difficult to remember what happens from one day or hour to the next.
